Last updated: 12 August 2026
Introduction
Bazrly ("we", "us", "our") operates an online marketplace platform that connects buyers, shop owners, marketplace administrators, and couriers across local marketplaces in South Africa.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. By creating an account or using our services, you acknowledge this policy.
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
Account information you provide when registering or signing in, such as your name, email address, phone number, and password (or identity from a social login provider such as Google).
Profile and application information when you apply to operate a shop, marketplace, or courier service, including business details and documents you upload.
Order, payment, delivery, and support information when you buy, sell, fulfil, or report issues on the platform.
Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and usage logs when you interact with our website.
Communications you send to us, including support tickets and email correspondence.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
Provide, operate, and improve the platform, including authentication, checkout, order fulfilment, and customer support.
Process transactions and communicate about orders, subscriptions, applications, and account activity.
Verify identities, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and maintain platform security.
Send service-related emails and notifications (for example order confirmations, application updates, and support replies).
Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
Legal bases for processing
Where applicable under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), we process personal information based on one or more of the following: your consent, performance of a contract with you, compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests in operating a secure marketplace (balanced against your rights).
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
Other users where necessary to complete a transaction (for example a shop owner receiving delivery details for an order).
Service providers that help us run the platform, such as authentication, hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and cloud storage providers. These providers process data on our instructions and under contractual safeguards.
Marketplace administrators where you interact within a specific marketplace tenant.
Regulators, courts, or law enforcement when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Third-party services
Our platform integrates with third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including authentication (Clerk), payment gateways (such as PayFast and Yoco), email delivery (Resend), and cloud infrastructure (Supabase). When you use features powered by those services, relevant data may be processed by them as described in their policies.
If you sign in with Google, Google processes your authentication according to Google's privacy policy. We receive profile information Google makes available to us, such as your name and email address.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the services, fulfil the purposes described in this policy, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and our legal obligations.
Security
We implement technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law (including POPIA), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction on processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To exercise these rights or ask questions about this policy, contact us at support@bazrly.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You can update certain account details in your profile settings. Marketing communications, where sent, will include an unsubscribe option where required by law.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. That page explains which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage them in your browser.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated through the platform or by email where appropriate.
